CFO rounds out leadership team

Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, who oversees the Department of Financial Services, announced more appointments to his leadership team.  Those most impacting the insurance industry are:

• Gregory Thomas  - Director of Agent and Agency Services.  Mr. Thomas has nearly 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and six professional designations in insurance, including Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

Insurance Regulations Not Covered by Governor's Freeze, Yet

There are not many of them, but most insurance regulations pending approval are not covered by Governor Rick Scott's executive order that freezes rulemaking.  Still, these regulations could be put on hold by the Governor and Cabinet.

Atwater appoints CFO office staff

Chief Financial Officer-elect Jeff Atwater announced the following appointments to the CFO office:

• Robert “Budd” Kneip - chief of staff.
• P.K. Jameson - general counsel.
• Tami Torres - will oversee the offices of Cabinet, communications and legislative affairs.
• Karen Chandler - will be in charge of scheduling and appointments.
• Paul Whitfield - will oversee the budget office and have other duties.
• Alexis Lambert - will be a spokeswoman for the CFO.

DFS Withdraws Unlawful Inducement Rules

The Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Agent & Agency Services, announced today that it is withdrawing both proposed unlawful inducement rules (amendments to rules 69B-210.005 and 69B-210.010).
