2011 Reinsurance Rates lower

National Underwriter reports:  "Reinsurance rates have decreased by as much as 10 percent as of the Jan. 1 [2011] renewals, as two leading reinsurance brokers indicated there are reasons for concern in the marketplace."

OIR approves 7th reinsurer under new collateral requirements

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) announced that it has approved Bermuda-based Renaissance Reinsurance Ltd. (Renaissance Re) for modified collateral requirements.

The staff of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee released its report on the Impact of Federal Legislation on Reinsurance Laws in Florida.  The report is available at the following link:

The report provides a summary of key provisions of the recently enacted federal Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010, followed by relevant provisions of the Insurance Code regulating reinsurance.
