Crunch time for committees: Week 8 preview of 2011 Florida Legislature

This is likely the last week for committee consideration of bills not yet ready for the floor of the Florida Senate and House.  The following bills are scheduled for committee action this week:
  • PIP Reform.
    • Senate.  S 1694 (PIP legal reform) and S 1930 (PIP anti-fraud) are both scheduled to be heard by the Judiciary Committee on Monday (04/25).  S 1930 (but not S 1694) is scheduled for the Rules Committee on Tuesday (04/26).
    • House.  H 967 (PIP legal reform) and H 1411 (PIP anti-fraud) may be heard at a last-minute meeting of the Health and Human Services Committee on Monday (4/25).
  • Citizens reform.
    • Senate.  S 1714 is scheduled to be heard by the Budget Committee on Tuesday (04/26) and by the Rules Committee on Tuesday (04/26).
    • House.  H 1243 is ready for the full House.
  • Rates for Property Insurance.
    • Senate.  S 1330 ("choice" bill) is scheduled for the Budget Committee on Monday (04/25) and Tuesday (04/26) if not taken up on Monday.
    • H 885 (recoupment of reinsurance costs) is ready for the full House.
  • Medical Malpractice (increased protection for doctors and hospitals in malpractice suits).
    • Senate.  S 1590 is on the agenda of Budget for Monday (04/25) and Tuesday (04/26) if not taken up on Monday.
    • House.  H 479 is ready for the full House.
  • Commercial rate deregulation (additional products).
    • Senate.  S 178 may be considered by the Budget Committee on Monday (04/25) and Tuesday (04/26) if not considered on Monday.
    • House.  H 99 is ready for the full House.
  • Insurer Insolvency (which is new to my list, contains miscellaneous regulatory provisions)
    • Senate.  S 1568 is scheduled for the Rules Committee on Tuesday (04/26).
    • House.  H 1007 is ready for the full House.
The following bills are ready for consideration by both the full House and Senate:
  • Big Property/Sinkhole Package. 
  • Non-renewal & cancellation (notice to 1st named insured).
  • Report card for residential insurers (repeal of).
    • H 4115.
    • S 1462 (has no Senate action as a stand-alone bill, but the report card repeal is contained in S 408, which is pending action by the full Senate).
