When the Legislators return, only two weeks (8 & 9) will remain in the Regular Session (unless extended). There are still many differences to resolve between House and Senate versions of the bills, and most bills contain highly controversial provisions.
Here is a summary of action last week:
- PIP Reform.
- Senate. S 1694 (PIP legal reform, including limitations on attorneys fees) and S 1930 (PIP anti-fraud) both passed out of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee last week (Week 6) after three weeks of being on that committee's agenda. Both bills still need to be heard by the Judiciary and Rules committees.
- House. H 967 (PIP legal reform) and H 1411 (PIP anti-fraud) both were voted out of the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee and the Civil Justice Subcommittee during Week 3 and have been in the Health and Human Services Committee since Week 4.
