Senate interim studies for 2012 Florida Legislative Session

The Florida Senate has published its plan for staff projects for the remainder of 2011.  These projects are in preparation for the 2012 Legislative Session.  See Senate - Interim Work Plan - 2012 Legislative Session.

Banking & Insurance Committee substantive projects are:

  • Review Florida’s Medical Malpractice Insurance Market (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
  • Community-based Care Lead Agency Liability Insurance Coverage (due date Oct. 1, 2011).
  • Citizens Property Insurance Corp. (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP) (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
  • Property Insurance (monitoring SB408, no report due).
  • Commercial Lines Insurance Rate Setting Process (monitoring HB99, no report due).
For the Banking & Insurance Committee, projects related to extending current public records exemptions are:
  • Open Government Sunset Review of Section 324.242, F.S., Personal Identifying Information in Insurance Policy Personal Injury Protection (PIP) and Property Damage Liability Insurance Policies (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
  • Open Government Sunset Review of Section 624.23, F.S., Consumer Complaints and Inquiries Received by the Department of Financial Services (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
  • Open Government Sunset Review of Section 717.117(8), F.S., Unclaimed or Abandoned Property (due date Sept. 1, 2011).
